104. Work from home.

This is crazy-talk. We don’t think this one will catch on.

Home is for Home and Work is for Work.

What’s next, ‘Live at the office?’

These just don’t mix - like socks and sandals, oil and water, doing your job from your house and large global online retailers. (hey-hey! … we promise we’re NOT pandering for this blog to be sponsored by any large global online retailer. - By the way, did you see those PRIME deals on underwear?)

Next thing you know, people will create an acronym for this. WFH or something…

If we were to try this out, it would only make sense to do it a few days a week, like maybe (W) Wed, (T) Thurs and (F) Friday - so we could say -  WTF for WFH.

To help you ‘Work from Home’, here’s a simple 2-step process:

  1. Don’t even bother
  2. No one is going to want to ‘Work from Home’.
  3. Shop on Amazon - save on prime day discounts happening soon! (sponsored?)

Your Future You called and said it tried the whole ‘Work from Home’ thing for a little while. Let’s just say, for the good of your Future Salary, someone named Jeff thinks the office is where work happens. Ixnay the orkway omfram omehay, okay-hay?

P.S. - It’s been reported that Corporate Housing Companies help people ‘Work from Home’ by… we don’t know. We guess, in theory, if this were to become a thing, maybe by adding desks and fast internet connections to furnished monthly rentals. You see, it’s just that ‘Work from Home’ feels so unnecessary and unreasonable, but if we were to do it, we read somewhere that Amazon may have a prime day discount on office chairs that match our home decor. Mr Bezos should (ahem) approve…

Why does this ‘Future You’ Series exist? What’s it about?

  1. Promote easy, quirky sustainable practices that are NOT preachy, or guilt-ridden and without a focus on the ‘saving the planet’ (hint: the planet will survive…)

  2. A playful post of simple ways to improve our lives, and the lives of those we love. Also improve our future lives… by taking fun action steps today.

  3. Still reading? Cool. We think you’re amazing and full of joyful zest.

This series is based off ‘105 Simple Sustainable actions’ - from Stephane Omsanski’s article in Parade from 2021.

104. Work from home.

No, seriously! Working from home has less of an impact than working in an office does. One undeniable reason is, of course, the lack of a commute. Employees that work from the convenience of their own home don't have to commute to work—eliminating those would-be emissions from their daily routine.
